Philips GoGear Aria 16GB April 13, 2010 MaxQ (Cozumel) Still trying to get the software to recognize the device; a little frustrating. So far, only way to transfer files is thru the bloated Windows Media Player interface.
Was hoping I could just plug it in, and see it recognized as a drive on my computer. Drop and drag. Why aren't things simple?
No comment on user interface on the little screen, as I don't have enough files on my device yet to have used it. Will try and post more comprehensive review, IF I can get the software to allow me to load mp3 files efficiently.
So far, a disappointment.
Great Alternative to iPod or Zune April 5, 2010 G. P. Gutierrez (Cooper City, FL, US) I've been a fan of mp3 players and portable media in general for as long as it has been around. I've had an iPod, Zune, Sandisk Sansa, and a few other random ones, but by far this Phillips is the best one so far. The battery life is great and the same space on an iPod or Zune would cost you about 3 times as much. The controls take some getting used to, but I find them alot easier than the scroll wheel on the iPods. If you're looking for a great mp3 that doesn't break the bank, look no further.
Good Non-Apple MP3 Player March 7, 2010 Jean Visnefski (Wilkes Barre, PA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've been using this for a few months now and I think I can make a pretty good review.
First, let's discuss transferring files. Regardless of what the description says, it WILL NOT transfer iTunes songs, not even the unprotected ones. So if your music comes entirely from iTunes, get a different MP3 player. This will allow you to use monthly music rental services like Rhapsody, though. The file transferring is a little rough so you'll probably end up having to use another type of software instead of the one that comes with it. if you value your sanity, that is.
The earphones are pretty good quality. Not the best, but you rarely get that with an MP3 player. It does give you two types of rubber tips so you can switch if you have smaller ear holes.
The sound quality for most songs is pretty good. Probably better than you get on an iPod. It's clear and doesn't have that static quality that some MP3 players have.
The FM tuner works well. I get every channel with this that I would get with a full sized radio. The sound comes in clearly, for the most part, unless it's a low powered channel from far away.
The voice recorder also works and it's very clear.
As for video, I have yet to find a single file type that works with this.
I would certainly recommend this with some reservations. If you have predominantly iTunes music, skip this one.
Perfect for long trips February 6, 2010 Handyman (Grand Rapids, MI USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my first MP3 player and I'm 70 years old. Takes a little getting used to. But replacing the CD player with this MP3 player for our long trips from Michigan to Florida was a good decision. Coupled with noise reducing headphones and large, custom compiled albums, it is perfect. I really believe it has more than 30 hours of battery life.
