great htib- recommended June 2, 2010 Prasad N. Badal (Chicago, USA) now that ive finally set up my basement HT system let me review the onkyo6200.
i'm using it in a 5.1 mode with no rear speakers only front LR, center & Surround LR & Sub Woofer. the initial set up microphone did not work. then i realized the rear speakers were not in rear positions but in surround positions. once i let the system know that , things were a breeze.
if you can use the provided cables as is , they r color coded. I didn't.
had to buy extra monster cable for the rear speakers as ones in the box were not long enough.
ive connected my blu- ray, cablebox, laptop, dvd through HDMI to projector.
would appreciate multiple Hdmi output to connect multiple displays
cables are thin enough to push under base board.
only wish there was technology to convert component to Hdmi. i would not have to run an extra component cable to projector from the Wii
the tuner mic could use some longer wire.
all in all a good product
Amazing HTB system. April 16, 2010 B. Leighty (St. Petersburg, FL) Pros: Amazing sound for the money, easy setup and speaker configuration, loud, clear, sleek.
Cons: Not much at all. I am about 7 days into ownership and cannot find one thing I do not love about it.
BEST PART: the ipod dock.. oh my. This is an amazing added bonus. My ipod touch has been in near 24/7 usage. Streaming Pandora via the ipod dock is something to behold. Being able to switch between playlists with the remote is just another perk that makes me happy.
I am very happy with this system and highly recommend it. For the price, its probably the best you can get with the options it gives you.
A short, concise review April 15, 2010 Highland Rob (Highland, IN) This HTIB is nothing short of amazing. The most important aspect t of any home theater is the sound and it does not disappoint. The sound is crisp and clear; the lows are deep, the highs are precise. I've watched movies, caught baseball games on cable and have listened to plain old FM radio and CD's. All have been a pleasure to listen to on this system. The optional placement (high front or rear behind) of the 2 add'l speakers for the 7.1 setup was a big help as was the Audessy automatic setup. Over all it's a very great system for a very reasonable price. Just make sure you don't spend more than $550 for it because the price goes up when Amazon runs out of it. I have not experienced any problems that others have reported.
Best receiver you can find for the money. April 15, 2010 T. Cardoso This receiver is awesome, hooked up my cable, PS3, computer and the Ipod dock rocks. The only problem I'm having is with neighboors, the sub was better than expected. It kicks and shakes the house. Just a little tip... BUY IT NOW!
Pretty good first home theater system April 14, 2010 theMadMonster (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So this was my first home theater system. I am not the most knowledgeable about this stuff so I searched for a few months trying to find one that best fits what I am looking for. I wanted something that would let me run multiple HDMI inputs into the receiver and then the receiver into the TV with both audio and video(from what I read not all receivers do audio). The Onkyo HT-S6200 does this perfectly. I have a Xbox 360, cable box, and my laptop all running into the receiver, then the receiver to the TV. All it takes is switching over the input on the receiver to get what I want on the TV.
As for the sound I don't really have much to compare it to but I would say it sounds great. I live above a bar so when the music gets load downstairs I am able to turn up the volume and drowned out the outside noise. The sub seems pretty loud, I usually run it turned down most of the way. I have not been to the bar downstairs while the my music was on but the bartenders tell me they can here it.
The ipod hookup is not to bad either. I have only used it a couple of times since I have my computer running through the tv but it does work. There is no display through the TV when in use but the remote can change the track of the music. I have not really played around with it to much so not sure what else it can do. It does charge my iPhone so that's cool in my eyes.
All in all I would recommend this to a friend. Its not too expensive and seems to work very well. Setup was easy, it took no longer then an hour. All the wires where long enough except the ones that run to the far rear speakers. I have a very large living room so this might not be a problem with most(the cable was only to short by about one or two feet). The cable are also colored coordinated so you know which cable to run to which part of the room.
