Lots of buck for the bang. And SACD pops between tracks. March 14, 2010 cpetty1963 (Phoenix, AZ United States) I spent a long time deciding to order this player, even waiting for the BDP-80 to be released so I could see the specs/reviews.
I did return the player. Most of the other reviews cover the pros and cons of this player.
The cons that surprised me:
Mild pops between SACD tracks (analog outputs). Yes, a niche format and not the sort of thing to bother someone listening to non-classical music. I'm surprised this topic is only now showing up in places such as avsforums.
A/V sync problems (analog outputs). The OPPO lets you adjust A/V sync, but only on the HDMI. Not the analogs.
If I have to buy a modern receiver to bypass these analog out issues, then I'll just downgrade the BP player and buy a new receiver.
Thanks
Perfection, in more ways then one March 14, 2010 Thomas J. Lang 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
From all the other reviews, it's apparent the quaility of the video and audio are superb. No other comes close to the dvd upconverting, and the audio is something that has to be heard to be believed. I want to talk about customer service. About a week after I rewatched (is that a word?) all my favorite movies. I was checking for firmware updates, and realized I wasn't getting connected to the internet. I emailed Oppo about the problem, and literally 5 minutes later I got a reply. Going back and forth trying to troubleshoot the problem, the nic card is the problem. Oppo says to return it to Amazon for a exchange. So far, 5 stars to Oppo for customer service I haven't exprienced in years. It's refreshing to know it still out there. But wait, now dreading to have to pack up the player and all the cables to send back to Amazon, I call them for a RMA. Amazon says, We will send you a new one, when it arrives put the return player in the box and we will email you a shipping label and give it back to the ups driver. OMG, did I die and go to customer service heaven? Could this be a sign? Either way, Oppo and Amazon are on my very very short list of company's I will return to again.

When I first started reading the reviews on this product, I found that there were some serious issues, and some folks were pretty upset with this product, Well I guess I have a good one, since it worked fine right out of the box, and continues to operate flawlessly. Please if you can afford it this is the player to have.
