The right stuff December 2, 2008 Manfred Tuch (Palm Coast ,Florida) the Passport suits my intended use .I bought it to back up all my files and it worked like a charm .should any of my drives fail or my computer crash ,I still have everything on the WD Passport. It's a good feeling. br / M.W.Tuch
Does what a hard drive should December 2, 2008 D. Burtzos (DeKalb,IL USA) Picked this up for use as a backup disc for a MacBook using Apple's Time Machine. Runs flawlessly off bus power directly from the laptop. Running without a hitch for nearly 3 months at this point and warrantied for 3 years. Sleek, small, convenient. Have several WD externals and no complaints yet. Well worth it.
D.O.A. December 2, 2008 Scubanut (New Carrollton, MD United States) This drive was DOA. I tried using on Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista Home Premium systems and it didn't work on either. I must have got the dud drive and I returned it.
Great little hard drive December 1, 2008 A. Baines (Nashville, TN) This attractive little hard drive is speedy and sleek. I can take it with me everywhere. Perfect for storing tons of music and personal files to take to work with you just in case.
Horrible customer service December 1, 2008 Edwin Hage As I had just spent hours transferring about 300GB of Data into the new drive, It just stopped working and stopped being recognized by both my MacBook, which is brand new, and my PC. Ok, this stuff happens from time to time, but Western Digital has by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced as an owner of tons of different electronics. After bugging me on the phone for about an hour with stupid questions and requests (plug it and try this and that, etc...), they finally accepted the obvious fact that the product was defective, and told me to ship it to them AT MY OWN expense to send me back a REFURBISHED one. Conclusion, I ended up paying more than the cost of a new drive and ended up with a refurbished one. It works fine but I will question the reliability every time I use it and ended up keeping my old (non-portable) hard drive as a back up of my back up. Rock on, WD!
