Wonderful 19" TV May 29, 2008 Clarinet guy (Washington, DC area) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered this TV over a month ago and have been very satisfied since day one. I ordered from Amazon on a Friday and it arrived three days later on Monday. Setup was very easy and the built in tuner found 45 channels (about 15 are analog). We use a 30 year old antenna strapped to the chimney and the picture is great! I strongly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a small TV.
Adequate May 27, 2008 L. Sewell (Wyoming) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
For the purpose of having an aesthetically pleasing t.v. in the kitchen - one that has to be perched on top of the refrigerator - this works just fine. The 19" screen may not be large enough for bigger kitchens but for mine it's just right. Installation and set up were super easy. It took only a couple of days to get used to the few seconds wait it takes for the t.v. to come on once 'power on' is hit on the remote. We have Dish - set up for combining this t.v. with the Dish remote was easy. Would have given it 5 stars but the audio leaves a little to be desired.
Very Good Picture Quality, Inferior Tuner Sensitivity May 27, 2008 Jerry Lundegarde (Minneapolis, MN) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I live in a "fringe" area for OTA reception in a densely wooded neighborhood 30 miles from the cities and have a rooftop antenna with a pre-amplifier system. I currently own Hitachi, Sony and Olevia TVs with built in ATSC tuners and find the Toshiba 19AV500U has the most trouble maintaining good reception from several of the HD channels. I've tried hooking it up to the other antenna leads in the house and results were the same so I've concluded the tuner sensitivity is not as good as my other TVs. However, when locked-in to an HD channel the picture quality is excellent. The Toshiba is very attractive with the piano black bezel and adjustable stand. The interface is simple and intuitive, setup was a breeze. I found the "DynaLight" feature annoying as it seems to randomly change the overall brightness ever so slightly too often. At first I thought there was something wrong with the backlight because of this "flickering" effect. I discovered that DynaLight is enabled by default. When I turned it off in the Advanced Video menu the problem was resolved. Overall this is a very good budget priced LCD HDTV from one of the best names in the business. This is a darned tootin' fine TV.
Toshiba? Doesn't work! May 19, 2008 Brenda C. Reddout (Florida) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
We bought this Toshiba about three weeks ago for our office. It gets used a couple hours each day, mostly as background noise. Twice now the TV has been turned on and all we get is audio. No video. After turning the TV off and back on, then we get both audio AND video. Very troubling. BTW, when we get a picture, it's good.
